VISITING BERGEN

THE WOODEN HOUSES OF BERGEN
Today we take a day off. Yesterday was pretty heavy and we want to see Bergen one of these days.

So we wake up, eat and start the car. It’s raining. A good day to drive! 😉

The landscape between Stavanger and Bergen is pretty urbanized. No such sceneries as what we’ve seen in Scandinavia so far. The roads are really busy too.

We try to find a nice place to sleep in a suburb of Bergen. We arrive on a really cool spot, close to a small lake and only 10’ to the inner city of Bergen, but when we get out of the car the minifly/mostiquos are back! And lots of them. Back in the car and hop, to another camping area.

Leon is very interested in the camping-ducks. Pretty fun watching him interact with them!
We eat, play some card games and get to sleep.

Close encounter with the camping-ducks!
At 6.30AM Leon is our wake up call. Time to eat and get our asses to Bergen!

We park the car at Bergenshallen. Seems to be the only place close to the city centre where you can park a motorhome (all the other car parks are for cars <2m height).

100m further lies a Bybanen stop, a tramway stop called Sletten 🙂 which takes us in 15’ to the heart of Bergen.

We pass the all famous fish market and get to Bryggen, where the even more famous wooden houses are still standing after 400 years. It’s nice but way to crowded for us. Packed with busses full of asians and americans. Not our cup of tea so we take the back alleys and get a little higher into town.
A magnificent view over town and nobody else in our way! The white, wooden houses are a charming view. Bergen is not so big so after our walk, we eat something and get back to the car. It’s 14pm and time to get road bound. Off to Runde it is! Halfway there it’s time for Leon to get to bed. We find a pretty nice place, not far from the road but next to a lake. A little bit windy so no miniflies!

That’s our nightspot! Goodnight!
